Our fully-supported Shelburne & Lake Champlain bicycle tour is custom designed to suit your exact needs and desires. You tell us how many days your group would like to spend on your active vacation, and what other activities we can plan for you (besides our easy bike tours), and then leave the rest to us.
On this Vermont bicycle tour we will pick your group up at Burlington airport and shuttle you to one of our exclusive properties:
Start assembling your friends and family members for your next biking vacation! We suggest a stay of 5-7 days.
We have loop rides heading off in all directions, with enough choices to last you a week or two! We have the route notes ready to go, and depending on the preference of your group, we'll send you out on a route that takes in gorgeous rolling hills, peaceful farm countryside, covered bridges, quintesssential Vermont country stores, vineyards, breweries, or beaches. We will provide you with route notes and all the maps you need.
Bicycling Magazine recently rated Burlington as one of the top six cycling cities in the nation... quite an accolade. Come and see for yourself what the buzz is all about. What's more, for the last two years the U.S. Triathlon championships were held in this region, and the Shelburne area was chosen as the cycling leg (so to speak) of the competition. But it doesn't all have to be so hard core; we have plenty of easy bike tours to offer you. Let us direct you to a few mellow bike trails in the region, or to the most excellent 12-mile bike path along the waterfront in Burlington.
Bring your friends, bring your family, for a real Vermont vacation in a real Vermont house! We have four bedrooms and a futon bed for your group, not to mention a fully-equipped kitchen, large screened-in porch, full-size pool table, and more.
We are centrally located, and a perfect place to start your Lake Champlain bicycle tour. We are also perfectly situated for all the highlights that Shelburne has to offer (see below). So come and be a Vermonter for a week. We will be by your side to help you ease into it. We will show you all the best restaurants, the best and worst bars, the most yummy maple-flavored ice cream, the free outdoor concerts, and the list goes on.
If our Shelburne house isn't available then we'll be staying in one of two very lovely B&Bs in the village of Charlotte. Besides being within easy cycling distance of the attractions of Shelburne, we’ll have the added benefit of being right next door to the Charlotte Village Winery, with its free wine tastings on the large outside deck with spectacular views of the Adirondack Mountains. Nearby you can also hike up Mount Philo, pick your own blueberries at the Charlotte Berry Farm, or pick your own apples at the Shelburne Orchards (we also suggest their apple pies, cider donuts, and apple brandy).
For groups up to 8-10 people we'll be staying at the bicycle-friendly Inn at Charlotte B&B. Owned by well-known Vermont artist Duker Bower, the Inn has four bedrooms, a swimming pool, and an art gallery.
For groups of 10-16 people we'll be staying at a lovely new B&B in the village of Charlotte. Nestled in a grove of sugar maple trees, the Old Lantern Inn is located in the countryside with beautiful views of Lake Champlain in the distance. We'll have the place completely to ourselves, and our hosts Lisa and Roland do a fantastic job at taking care of our every need, including our appetites. Roland is a trained French chef who specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, and loves sourcing his food from the local Vermont farms.
We totally understand that you might not wish to cycle all the time, so let us suggest some other activities for your active vacation. We could organize a boat trip for your group on Lake Champlain, the largest lake in the United States after the five Great Lakes. Separating New York from Vermont, this 120-mile-long lake provides ample opportunities for enjoying activities on the water. One of the more popular ways to see the lake is aboard one of the scenic & dinner cruise ships based out of Burlington. On a more active level, we can arrange for some canoes and kayaks (even double kayaks) for you to explore the protected waters of Shelburne Bay. We'll equip you with a lifejacket, a picnic lunch, and a laminated guide to the local "interpretive water trail." And for the sailors amongst us, how about a two-hour sunset sail aboard a 41 ft. sailing sloop. Equipped with a cocktail in hand, this could be the perfect way to end the day. This yatch can take up to 12 people, and operates mid May through mid October.HIKING

Shelburne Farms is located one mile from our house, and offers several year-round countryside footpaths totalling 8 miles. Mt. Philo State Park offers several invigorating hikes that reward you with breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and New York's Adirondack Mountains beyond.
